An Older Adult Team was
formed in January 2002 and got off to a great start under the direction of
co-team leaders: Frances Walton and Elizabeth Wofford. The Reverend June Cook
is the staff person who facilitates this team.
One
of the most exciting and challenging ministries of this Older Adult Team has
been to provide an up-to-date
list of all seniors for visitation and/or prayer. Helen Ingram has taken the lead in recruiting volunteers to visit and pray with these
friends.
Join Us for GEMS
(Galloway’s Enthusiastic, exciting, endangered, etc. Members)
Our
older adults come together for fun,
fellowship and a delicious meal on the second Thursday of
each month. Lunch is served at 11:30 a.m. and an entertaining program
begins about noon.
Reservations are necessary to accommodate our large
crowds. Call the
church receptionist by 4:30 p.m. on the Monday prior to the
Thursday meeting. Give your name and the number of plates you wish to reserve
($6.00/plate).
Trips for Adventuresome
Adults
On
October 6, 2003, Galloway
“adventurers” joined friends from Monticello
United Methodist Church for an 8-day visit to the Canadian Rockies! This was
indeed a tremendous time of fellowship, learning, and sightseeing!
Last fall twenty of us climbed into our new
bus and headed for the beautiful Mississippi Delta town of Cleveland. We
visited the famous Peter's Pottery; ate at K.C.’s, the well-known 4-star
restaurant; picked cotton from the fields; and enjoyed the quaint shops! All
came back a bit tired but with smiles on our faces!
