“Many members, One Body”
The college ministries
of Galloway UMC involve many members, many schools and their affiliate
church related organizations all seeking to serve and be a part of one
body, the body of Jesus Christ.
As the body of Christ,
we seek to provide every college student connected to Galloway with a
place to be nurtured spiritually and physically as we encourage their
growth as disciples of Jesus Christ in this world.
DID YOU KNOW?
·
Every meal offered at Galloway is free
to our college students
·
*College students can be found in
attendance at all of our worship services as well as active participants
in our College Plus Sunday school class.
·
Our College Plus class meets at 10am on
Sunday mornings in room 507 for informal, informative and transforming
Bible study and conversation.
·
Galloway counts as one of its greatest
blessings its proximity and partnership with our area schools. We serve
as a training ground and “classroom” for those wanting to explore
ministry in a host of different settings. College students are involved
in our Television and Radio ministry, through service as youth
counselors, through service as ministry interns (which also gives them
school credit), and can be found among our Early Childhood Center as
foreign language teachers. Students who enjoy music find their gifts
nurtured and grown through participation in our chancel and handbell
choirs, as well as through music internships where they can hone their
skills as musical leaders.
·
A Care package is sent to all currently
enrolled college students for whom we have current addresses prior to
exams in the fall and spring semesters. Last semester we mailed 116
Christmas cards and accompanying gift certificates to McAllister’s Deli
to students in the metro Jackson area and beyond.
Our ministry with
students in college includes those in the metro Jackson area as well as
those whose home church is Galloway and are enrolled in colleges away
from the city.
We always look forward to
our involvement with Millsaps College, Mississippi College,
Jackson State University, Belhaven College and Hinds Community
College.
It is also a joy to have
involved in the life of the congregation our graduate students at
Mississippi College School of Law and University of Southern
Mississippi Medical School.
